Scenarios

A set of tests were prepared based on a set of scenarios. These scenarios were designed to cover the different situations and aventualities that may arise in a road pricing system based on GNSS. The scope was to test the application under different conditions, and examine the problems that may arise in each case, to determine the feasibility of the application, the required features of such a system and the achieved reliability.

CV-35 scenario

This scenario is located in a road near our promises, which has two lanes per direction and a moderate flow of vehicles, with similar conditions than a highway. It can be used to study a road pricing system under nominal conditions:

• High satellite visibility
• Low density of buildings, with short height
• Fluid, medium-high speed traffic conditions
• Presence of parallel roads

Valencia scenario

A scenario located in the urban center of Valencia. This scenario is suitable for testing road pricing in hard conditions:

• Low/medium satellite visibility
• High/medium density of buildings, with medium/high height
• Stop and go, medium-low speed traffic conditions
• Presence of parallel roads

This scenario was considered suitable for zone-based charging. Two zones were defined, one of them surrounding all the city while the other surrounds the historic center. Click on the image to see a larger and more detailed image of this scenario.
